Get to Know Me
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of New York. I entered the Mental Health profession in 1992 and earned a Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from St. John's University in Staten Island , NY. I then moved to Florida and became a Certified Addiction Professional in 1997 and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in 1998. I had the good fortune of becoming a member of the Interdisciplinary Team at Suncoast Center for Community Mental Health Inc., where I worked in the Day Treatment Mental Health program as a Team Leader. My introduction to Mental Health included working with clients that had issues such as depression, anxiety, mania, anger, grief/loss, relationship issues, and addiction. Upon moving back to New York in 2001, I began my employment at Richmond University Medical Center. I conducted individual and group sessions with clients that had substance abuse issues.
In my 25 years of experience, I have worked with individuals to help them to heal and to bring out the best of what lies within. I consider it an honor to be allowed entry into someone's life as a therapist. By providing a safe therapeutic environment to facilitate personal growth, I empower my clients to break old patterns and to reach their personal goals. In giving individuals the tools and skills necessary to build healthy relationships and to develop positive self-esteem, I help them to lead more fulfilling lives. No person is broken, nor needs to be fixed, but only rediscovered.
