Frequently Asked Questions

Why do people go to therapy?

Some people come into therapy fully aware of a problem and simply need help in sorting through the issues. Others have a vague notion of something wrong and ask for help in clarifying the problem.  When you enter into therapy, you set out on a journey that has the potential to change your entire outlook on life.

What would we talk about?

Our discussion can touch on any number of topics, such as family dynamics, current relationships, coping strategies, challenging past experiences, and exploring the many avenues for personal growth and renewal.

How often will I need to come?

Some people need to meet only a few times to resolve an issue, while others opt for more in depth work over a longer time period. Sessions can be scheduled during the day, in the evening, or on the weekend.

What is the fee?

My fee is $120 for a 45-50 minute individual session and $150 for a 60 minute Couple or Family session.  I accept cash, credit card via Pay Pal, and check.  I am an out-of-network provider for all companies except Cigna. I do accept that insurance  What that means is for all other insurance companies other than Cigna I am fee-for-service, paid at time of service.   I would be happy to help fill out a standard insurance form for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

What about my Confidentiality concerns?

Clients often ask questions about how their rights as consumers of mental health services will be protected by the therapist and by applicable State and Federal laws. There is legal privilege in the State of New York protecting the confidentiality of the private information you share with me. As a licensed and certified professional, I strive to maintain the strictest ethical standards of confidentiality. Your privacy is important and is guarded with all legal limits. If you have questions about the limits of confidentiality, I will be glad to respond either by phone or in person.
